I have been a constant innovator to the specialized systems and processes that have made FBS Property Management, (Fjellestad, Barrett and Short) a recognized leader within our chosen industry. I was instrumental in the management of numerous commercial office buildings, strip centers and industrial properties throughout San Diego County. My experience also took me throughout the country as I managed property throughout several regions of the United States, seventeen different states I traveled to perform site inspections and property evaluations and proposals for the acquisition of expanding markets. I created budgets and analysis of income properties for hundreds of investor clients. I have managed a hundred plus room hotel to a 94 foot yacht thru the Panama channel back to Maine to opening an art museum & Sound studio. After several years in the Multi-family arena, specializing in community & complex renovation and the repositioning of multi-family apartment communities, I recognized a much needed and missing segment in the marketplace, Professional Property Management of Single Family Homes and Condo’s, commonly done by individual owners, “Mom’s & Pop’s”. I utilize a practical, common-sense approach to daily property management situations and tenant-landlord issues. Resolution and compromise are usually achieved with my unique communication style. I believe having a fair-minded view and optimistic outlook is appreciated by deadlocked opposing parties. My leadership has been a consistent driving force to the FBS team as I am passionate about training and teaching my life lessons and experiences to the young minds that come through our doors. I am always seeking out a better way to manage property and people, as I have dedicated my life to Real Estate holdings.
COO I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Marketing / Management Bachelor’s degree and an associate degree in Automotive Technology. After College I pursued an opportunity to get into the automotive industry with a desire to design cars for GM or manage and market dealerships, since my emphasis in college was quality control. Once in the automotive industry I realized my love for cars may be sidetracked and an opportunity to expand my education and abilities was offered up when I purchased an 18 hole Championship golf course, full service restaurant and banquet & catering service, and three sub-divisions of new home development parcels. The purchase and subsequent sale of the Elwood Greens Golf Course attracted interest from Southern California and an offer to takeover an existing Property Management and Acquisition firm relocated me to San Diego. In 1989 I found my permanent home with my current business partner Neil Fjellestad at Fjellestad Properties Inc. and now known throughout the area as FBS Property Management. The combination of Neil’s amazing tutelage and vast knowledge of the industry with my ability to make things happen and get things done, made for a beautiful partnership. Today, FBS is a full service Property Management company that specializes in the management of single family Homes, Condominiums and smaller Apartments communities throughout San Diego County. With continuous operations in the region for more than 40 years and currently collecting rent in 70 zip codes we are considered San Diego's most experienced real estate investment company specializing in the acquisition, management, maintenance and lease-up of rental properties for independent owners.We also offer an array of consulting and advice, as well as training on Real Estate investments options. Recently we have expanded our portfolio to include a division made up of Multi-family apartment communities.
