As a Learning Services Coordinator I oversaw a wide ranged portfolio of face-to-face and online professional development courses delivered publicly and in-company. I built and maintained strong relationships as the main liaison to delegates, clients, and trainers, I lead team presentations, and provided a variety of analytical insights for executives. During the pandemic, I worked with various teams to pivot to online courses, significantly increasing webinar attendance. If you ever want to build and maintain customer relationships in a fast paced environment then there's no better experience that getting behind your local bar! I quickly learned the importance of sharpening my communication skills to connect with a diverse range of regulars and new clientele alike, ensuring everyone felt welcome and valued. There's was nothing like bar work on a Saturday night to develop my ability to multitask under high pressure. The most important thing I learned - please please please don't order your Guinness at the end of an order 😉
During my internship as a Graduate Project Officer at the University of Hertfordshire, I got to grips with juggling multiple projects, honed my research skills, analysed heaps of data and even got to deliver a snazzy report on virtual career fairs to senior management. All this while participating in professional development programs and keeping my time management game strong. It was a short but sweet whirlwind of learning, creativity, and fun!
Becoming a team member at the STEM Discovery Centre was my entry into the world of engineering and technology. Assisting with activities for school pupils helped me develop strong communication skills and generate my enthusiasm for STEM studies. Traveling to schools and external venues to promote STEM allowed me to build my knowledge and network within the STEM community. Presenting mini workshops at Birmingham’s “Big Bang” fair and liaising with children, parents, teachers, and other participants was an incredible experience. This role ignited my passion for engineering and technology, setting the foundation for my future career.
My first gig into the world of events where I helped to coordinate corporate, charity, and service events, developing my customer service and organisational skills. I was able to collaborate with marketing for the first time to produce materials, manage event bookings, and propose creative event ideas.
