I help business owners and management teams identify tax efficient solutions which help drive business growth and enable them to focus on running the business rather than worrying over ever expanding tax complexities. I have helped a number of clients with succession planning, advising vendors and buyers; assisting with due diligence (vendor DD and buyer DD); guiding owners and the management team through sales and pre-sale structuring, Management Buy-Outs, Employee Ownership Trusts and Enterprise Management Incentive schemes; and I have worked with business owners to separate complex groups by way of tax efficient demergers.
I was a Virtual Tax Partner for Ross Martin Tax Consultancy's VTaxP support service and a technical tax editor. The VTaxP service provides technical tax advice to accountants and businesses on an ad hoc basis. A lot of my advisory work is on tax aspects of corporate restructuring, demergers, family tax planning and complex VAT issues. I do however advise on most areas of UK tax, including Income Tax, CGT, IHT, Trusts and Estates, Corporation Tax and SDLT. We have a number of accountants we advise, so the breadth of queries received is vast. I also do tax editing, writing and webinar CPD presentations for the popular web-based tax information service www.rossmartin.co.uk, which aims to support firms of accountants and advisers by acting as their own personal intranet.
I provided advisory services across a mix of taxes to a range of clients, including CT advice for large multinational corporates, including PLCs, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, owner managed businesses etc. I was also heavily involved in tax planning for clients working with our corporate finance team (selling, buying and corporate restructuring). I headed up the OMB, entrepreneurs and private client offering in the Ipswich and Chelmsford offices and for the last six months, the Cambridge office as well, alongside my other advisory work.
