Experience

  • Chief Executive Officer at CalAmp
    Jan 2024 - Feb 2026 · 2 yrs 2 mos

Led the turn-around of CalAmp, the company that pioneered the telematics/IoT industry. The company supplies IoT devices to leading automotive and industrial OEMs like Caterpillar, BMW, Toyota, and SaaS fleet management services for large fleets like UPS and large governments. The company had been in decline for many years before I took the role. We restructured the company balance sheet, re-organized into business units structured around operating models, rebuilt the leadership team and upgraded a high percentage of sales, marketing and product management. Developed strategic plans for each business unit and changed go to market model in some cases. Restored company to profitability and growth.

Honored to have led this pioneer in automotive image sensors from negative profit to double in size to over $1B and transition to profitability. This was a GM role with direct responsibility for engineering, strategy, product management, marketing and technical support. Engaged directly with all the world-wide automotive OEMs and leading Tier 1 suppliers and other ecosystem partners to serve the needs of ADAS, Lidar, Radar, Serdes, autonomous driving and other automotive imaging applications.

  • Chief Operating Officer at SafeAI, Inc.

  • General Manager at Fairchild Imaging
    Oct 2015 - Oct 2019 · 4 yrs 1 mo

Led turn-around of a declining business in CMOS image sensors for defense, professional/movie cameras, medical X-ray sensors and thermal imaging. Responsible for P&L and all functions of Fairchild Imaging, a subsidiary of defense contractor BAE, as well as BAE MEMS foundry. Recruited market experts in each of our business segments to help strengthen strategy and customer engagement. We needed more non-defense volume in our thermal business to load and fund our MEMs foundry, so I shifted the thermal imaging business from full electronic subsystem to the component level where our differentiation was stronger and cost more competitive, leading to substantial growth in commercial markets. Saved our X-ray business by pivoting to a higher point in the value chain. BAE had bought this business with goal of solving low light imaging with silicon sensors for defense applications, which we solved and were awarded an Army contract.

  • Senior Vice President at Sony Electronics
    Oct 2012 - May 2014 · 1 yr 8 mos

Joined Sony as the result of acquisition of Pixim. Developed Sony's Image Sensor Design Centers in the USA and Israel, based primarily on the talent from Pixim merger. Strong mutual respect and trust have been achieved between Japan, USA and Israel engineering teams, making this perhaps one of the more successful Asia+USA mergers and integrations. At the same time, a strategic plan to integrate Pixim technology was developed. Sales and marketing resources were integrated and cross-trained in areas such as value proposition driven sales and marketing.
