Prior to retiring as superintendent of the Hempfield School District in Lancaster, PA in January 2019, I devoted the previous 35 years to my work as an administrator and teacher in three school systems in southcentral PA and northern NY. Throughout my career, I've lived a deep commitment to being in service to others and helping students and adults to learn and grow, identify and capitalize on their strengths, develop the courage and skills needed to overcome adversity, and envision and pursue their dreams. In February 2019, I opened 1st Light Coaching & Consulting, believing that the dawning of each new day presents new possibilities for personal development that allow us to become the best versions of ourselves, at work and at home. As an executive, leadership, and organizational/personal development coach and consultant, my MISSION is to help people and organizations stretch and grow the capacities needed to envision more desirable futures, achieve outstanding outcomes, and lead more fulfilling lives.
Trained by the internationally renowned Newfield Network, I've spent the past year coaching leaders and others from an ontological perspective intended to shift clients as “observers” of the world of possibilities at work and home. We navigate the learning domains of language, emotions and moods, and body somatics as we identify challenges, develop new insights and distinctions, and co-create actions and practices designed to promote the learning and growth needed for clients to pursue and achieve their goals.
