I’ve specialized in mining finance since joining CIBC out of university. I was drawn to this fascinating industry where companies are developing new projects, looking for growth, managing their portfolios, and trying out new technologies. I have had the opportunity to travel the world and work in Australia for four years. My experience working across the full range of financial products and global mining markets gives me a unique perspective and ability to make value-adding connections. As the head of mining finance for the Americas for Macquarie I worked with both established companies and entrepreneurs to provide all forms of capital from our balance sheet while meeting their dilution and cost of capital objectives. My clients included Artemis Gold, Contango Ore, Taseko Mines, Rye Patch Gold, Copper Mountain, Galiano Gold, Tahoe Resources, B2Gold, SilverCrest Mines, Avocet Mining, Sherwood Copper/Capstone, Atlantic Gold, Richmont Mines, Red Back Mining, and Quadra Mining. I led very complex financings involving multiple parties such as streamers, royalty companies, equipment manufacturers, alternative debt providers, offtakers, other banks and construction companies, coordinating all the moving parts and leading negotiations. I have worked with most of the streaming and royalty providers, banks, investment banks, debt advisers and leading alternative debt providers in the space. More recently I have been consulting to development stage companies on financing projects and acquisitions, and have joined the boards of a few selected issuers which are in growth mode.
