As Vice President of the Nigerian National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Committee (Young Professionals), I participate in strategic decision making as an Executive Member of the NNC. In addition to this, my main role is to facilitate and encourage the active involvement of Nigerian Young Professionals in standardization activities. More specifically; • Actively engage young professionals and encourage participation in the Nigerian National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission’s activities • Represent the interest and perspectives of Young Professionals within NNC-IEC and Technical Committees • Organise networking and Outreach opportunities to connect Young Professionals with experienced specialists and knowledge exchange • Facilitate training and development programs to help Young Professionals enhance their skills and understanding of standardization • Promote Diversity and Inclusion by ensuring Young Professionals from diverse backgrounds have equal opportunities to contribute to NNC-IEC’s work • Facilitate collaboration with educational and other professional institutions to promote awareness of standardization and encourage academic involvement • Communication and promotion • Support Technical Committees and assist Young Professionals in joining and participating in relevant Technical Committees
Standards Development Activities in collaboration with Standards Organisation of Nigeria CLASP and Nigeria Sustainable Cooling Project • Review of Minimum Energy Performance Standards and Labels for Air Conditioners • Review of Minimum Energy Performance Standards for Lighting appliances • Review of Minimum Energy Performance Label for ECOWAS region IEC Nigerian National Committee • Member, (NTC EE02: Batteries, NTC EE03: Household Appliances, NTC EE07: Lighting and electromagnetic compatibility, NTC EE09: Power Systems Management, NTC EE 10: Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems (SPVES), IEC TC 34 Energy Efficiency Networks (EEN) • Coordinate training activities, technical presentations and peer learning activities of the Energy Efficiency Network for over 30 Organisations • Lead awareness and implementation on Building Energy Efficiency Codes and Guidelines • Building Energy Efficiency and Resource Efficiency of the production processes for five (5) industrial organisations • Awareness creation on minimum energy performance standards specifically for air conditioners and pumps Other responsibilities include; • Participate in annual strategic and budget planning • Coordinate research and training activities on energy efficiency • Development of energy efficiency policies and guidelines • Organize energy audit and energy management activities and projects
Project: Support for Project Preparation for Urban Progress (SuPPUrbP) - City Climate Finance Gap Fund – Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Nigeria • Conducted surveys and energy audits for 23 schools and healthcare centres, including suitability for rooftop-PV and potential need for solar water heating, as well as potential for grid connection. • Advised on options for expanding use of renewable energy (solar PV) sources on city level • Led on the data collection and supported the development of the pre-feasibility studies • Development of cost benefit analysis • Conducted stakeholder mapping, analysis and engagement
African Union Energy Commission (AFREC) Comprehensive Capacity Building Programme for the African Energy Sector • Coordinated activities for Western Africa for the project • Carried out needs assessment regarding capacity and skills gap • Identified key African and International Institutions, and other relevant stakeholders • Developed training curricula to fill identified skill gaps and matching these with Institutions • Developed a framework for long term collaboration and cooperation strategy
• Country representation and project management (procurement, administration, finance, travel and logistics, intern supervisory) • Coordinated the design, development and stakeholder engagement for the Abuja Municipal Area Council’s Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAP) in line with the NDCs and SDGs • Coordinated the project identification, feasibility studies and energy load assessment of local government owned Primary Health Care centres, educational institutions, secretariats, markets and shopping complexes in the Abuja Municipal Area Council through the Urban Smart Energy product, with the aim to reduce carbon emissions via the installation of off grid and on-grid solar PV roof top systems • Supported cities to develop climate change adaptation projects via a participatory process with all relevant stakeholders through the Urban Laboratory product • Coordinated activities with GIZ’s Project Development Programme and Nigerian Energy Support Programme • Established strong relationship and networks with high level stakeholders across Local and State Governments, International Donor Agencies and Private sector organisations in relation to the Cities fight against climate change • Carried out city-to-city and regional exchanges on sustainable energy access, climate adaptation and climate finance projects. • Coordinated over twenty (20) trainings, workshops, including the launch event of the SEACAP and Climate Finance
