Aspiring Emergency Medicine doctor and first year Medical Student at UCL.
In this role, I provide interim co-leadership and operational support across the Barking, Dagenham, and Newham Community Network, working collaboratively with functional leads to support the effective delivery of community, youth, and event operations. I proactively support a wide range of network functions including event planning and coordination, operational logistics, volunteer engagement, community outreach, and programme delivery. I regularly assist in coordinating resources, staffing, and communications to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of activities and events across the network. This includes managing medical treatment centres at large scale events of up to 40 volunteers at events such as London Marathon.
As the Cadet Group Lead, I lead and coordinate weekly cadet sessions for up to 36 cadets and 4 adult volunteers, creating a safe, engaging, and structured environment for young people to develop first aid, leadership, teamwork, and life skills. This puts me responsible for session planning, volunteer coordination, safeguarding oversight, behaviour management, and operational delivery of training activities and practical scenarios. This included supporting the development of cadet leadership pathways through mentoring junior leaders and delegating responsibilities across the group structure.
I had the opportunity to shadow doctors and physician associates within the clinical pharmacology team at the University College London Hospital over a one week placement.
I had the opportunity to shadow a range of doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals across a variety of departments from paediatric surgery to palliative care across the King George Hospital and Queen's Hospital sites over a one week placement. I also had the chance to learn and practice basic life support skills and how to insert a cannula.
