Dr. Cheyenne Matinnia is a paediatric clinical pharmacist at The Hospital for Sick Children. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) at the University of Toronto, then completed her residency training at The Hospital for Sick Children. She recently completed her Masters thesis at the University of Toronto under Drs. Zubin Austin and Jamie Kellar. Her thesis focuses on conflict/communication in education, specifically related to pharmacy students. Cheyenne is passionate about conflict and communication (the basis for her graduate thesis). She believes constructively navigating conflict has positive impacts, including to encourage open-mindedness and critical thinking. Her goal is to formally incorporate more conflict education in post-secondary curricula, and her thesis is laying the groundwork for describing the conflict experience of pharmacy students and its impact on their professional development. Cheyenne is dedicated to making education more accessible and advocating for pharmacy students.
The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy Responsible Discourse Working Group (LDFP-RDWG) is built on the efforts of the Provost’s Civil Discourse Working Group and aims to strengthen a culture of responsible discourse in the faculty that encourages conversations across different viewpoints and addresses challenging topics, all with the goal of finding truth and building common understanding. This group is designed to further the understanding and practice of responsible discourse for a faculty of pharmacy that includes students and fellows in professional and research programs, a range of faculty members, a librarian, and the staff who support the work of the Faculty.
