Prof Parmar (MBBS, MS, DNB, PGDHHM, PGDMLS, NDDY, FRCS, FIFSO) is an experienced Metabolic & Bariatric consultant surgeon and Director for Surgery & Cancer at Whittington Health NHS Trust, London, UK. He is Professor of Surgery at the prestigious University College London. Experience of over 3000 surgeries and thousands of endoscopic procedures. He is council member and Secretary of British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS). Member of the patient safety and national registry committee at BOMSS. He has successfully organised the BOMSS ASM in 2021(Oxford University), 2022 (Brighton) and 2023 (Birmingham) as chair. He is BOMSS representative to ALRSGBI council. Council member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) European Chapter. Actively participating in multiple randomised controlled trial in collaboration with NIHR and UCLH. He practices evidence based medicine with multiple National and International presentations. Invited faculty at numerous National and International meetings (Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Egypt, Portugal, Tel Aviv, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, USA, UAE, China, India, Philippines). He is Secretary of the MGB-OAGB International Club. Strong academic interest with more than 250 peer reviewed articles and abstracts and multiple book chapters. Advisory Editor of Obesity Surgery, Editor at SOARD, International Journal of Surgery, Journal of Bariatric Surgery, BMC Surgery. He is Associate Editor of textbook ‘Obesity, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery: A comprehensive guide, 2nd edition published by springer in 2022. Reviewer of reputed journals including BMJ, BJS and Clinical Obesity. Actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors and is Educational and Clinical supervisor for junior doctors. Faculty at London surgical curriculum at Imperial College, London. Research lead for COVID19 at the hospital leading to multiple collaborative projects with NIHR and other multinational projects. Leading to collaborative co-authorship in articles in Nature, NEJM, Lancet and BJS. He is surgical tutor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is an Honorary Professor at Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation. Recently appointed the Co-Director of Research and Innovation at Whittington Hospital.
