York, England, United Kingdom
I'm Editor-in-Chief of York Vision and a final year student at the University of York. As Editor, I oversee the publication of every online article, and take the lead organising and designing our quarterly print editions. During my time at University, I've had the privilege of curating an extensive portfolio of written content. This includes a long-form investigation into the University's sustainability policy, to a colourful array of opinionated features. In my free time, I enjoy writing for my Trill Mag, one of the biggest student publications for Gen Z Voices.
As a Senior Journalist for Trill Mag, I can now report on breaking news stories and live events as they unfold, directly on the website. Before requesting this promotion, I had to show my editor that I was capable of submitting publish-ready content that is "free of errors and rarely requires revision", keeping in line with the publication's niche interest.
I produce regular long-form news articles, targeted towards a Gen Z audience. Trill Mag is one of the largest student publications in the world, and it's great to join their news team, pitching, writing and sharing ideas.
I assist with the recruitment of a team of 25 Student Fundraisers, including application shortlisting and in-person interviews. I also assist with the design and delivery of suitable training sessions for the Student Fundraisers, regularly delivering feedback and ensuring we hit our weekly financial targets.
This role required me to carry out the usual YuCall student caller obligations but also lead and motivate a 5-person team. I attended weekly online meetings; conducted Personal Development Plans and delivered constructive feedback to my team, and co-led a weekend of training for the new callers
I'm working in a team of 25 people in a telephone marketing campaign, where I call selected alumni of the University of York and talk to them about their time at York and ask for donations over the phone. I handle all phone calls with courtesy, tact and sensitivity whilst processing online records and keeping an accurate record of all phone calls made.
I am a co-presenter of York Student Television's live bi-weekly show, The Rundown, which gives a brief overview of the biggest news on campus and in York, updating students on important matters close to home. This role involves finding the stories, writing the script and speaking confidently about important local issues.
I send out weekly emails to a 200+ mailing list, delivering content that strikes a balance between informative and entertaining. I am also confident monitoring engagement and clicks on Mailjet.
