I have worked for the Columbia Police Department for over 23 years. During that time I served in both sworn and civilian capacities. I worked in 8 different positions and had 6 additional duty assignments. I led 2 teams, was responsible for a $1.5 million project, attended several thousand hours worth of training and received numerous certifications. After serving 22 years in a sworn capacity, I retired and began my civilian position as the Digital Forensic Investigator for the department. My duties now include handling, processing and analyzing electronic devices for evidence. I am also the coordinator/trainer for the department drone team, I've been a pilot for 10 years with hundreds of flights logged.
I assist all the units of the department by handling and processing electronic devices and digital evidence collected for investigation. I use a variety of software tools to extract data from both physical devices and in the cloud. I further aid officers/investigators in analyzing data for special cases as needed.
When I was promoted, I served as the supervisor of the Training and Recruiting Unit. Later I transferred to patrol as a supervisor. I spent my last two years as the project manager for the Columbia Police Department's new RMS which included configuring, implementing and administering the software suite. While I was a sergeant, I took on additional assignments of being Team Leader for the Forensic Evidence Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. In April of 2020 I retired from my sworn position taking a civilian position in the department.
In this position I was responsible for researching, editing and proposing policy and procedures for the Columbia Police Department. I managed accreditation material, preparing our department for that process. I was the administer of Lexipol's KMS (a policy and training software suite) and PowerDMS (a document and training management software suite).
I have accepted and successfully completed several photography projects and commissions in the areas of sporting events, portraits, weddings, special events, landscape and aerial photography. I have operated my business via word of mouth and personal recommendations since starting in 2005. I have attended numerous schools, courses and seminars. I have taught photography classes both locally and across the country.
