About

Khalid Mahmood is a 38‑year veteran of the global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. After earning his MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management, New Jersey, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, he spent 14 years advancing through progressively responsible roles in pharmaceutical companies across the U.S., South America, the Far East, and Asia Pacific. He returned to his native Pakistan in 1994 and became the founding CEO of Getz Pharma in 1995. First as the CEO, and now as the Executive Chairman of Getz Pharma Pvt. Ltd. and Getz Pharma International FZ LLC, Khalid has led the company from inception to becoming Pakistan’s largest pharmaceutical company, the country’s largest taxpayer and exporter in the pharmaceutical sector, and the largest employer in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry, with over 8,500 employees across Asia‑Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Under his leadership, the company has expanded into more than 40 international markets and is the market leader in over ten of them. Getz Pharma is the only pharmaceutical company in Pakistan whose manufacturing facility and quality control laboratory are pre‑qualified by WHO (Geneva), PIC/s, and the EAEU (Eurasian). Getz Pharma’s Astola facility is also LEED Platinum certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, making it the first and only pharmaceutical plant in South Asia to achieve this distinction. In recognition of his contributions to the pharmaceutical industry and the national economy, Khalid was awarded the Tamgha‑e‑Imtiaz in 2023. Khalid is on the Board of Governors of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, and is a member of its Internal Audit & Finance Committee and Human Resources Committee. He was on the Board of Directors of WWF Pakistan for six years, including two years as President of the Board. Beyond his professional leadership, Khalid has supported major initiatives in sports, education, healthcare, culture, and environmental preservation.
