Excel is a fundamental tool in every company for management, reporting, data analysis and decision-making. For several years, I built custom business solutions to automate processes in Excel serving a wide variety of business industries and business areas. One of the recurring business needs is to have a way to make an Excel solution available online allowing each user the access privileges they need, and at the same time have total control of data privacy and secure processes for proper data input and reporting. Sheetcast offers exactly this possibility, extending the power of Excel to a whole new level, including work flows automation. And that's why I am a proud Advocate of Sheetcast, helping businesses streamline their procedures with custom, robust, reliable web apps based in Excel, for only a fraction of the cost of traditional web applications. My passion for Excel as a tool, burning curiosity to always learn more about it, and desire to share what I learn, led me to found the MS Excel Toronto Meetup Group, where professionals can come together to share their knowledge and connect with each other. This thriving community has grown over 4,600 members providing them opportunities to learn for free and introduce new Excel experts to the community. Teaching what I learn is my way to give back and empower others in their journey the same way I have been impacted by other extremely generous leaders of the Excel community. On my YouTube channel and my training program, professionals can learn how to automate Excel recurring procedures and become valuable assets for their organizations.

Examples: - Cost comparison between two business operation options - Account revenue and cost allocation for account profitability determination. - Development of new and improvement of existing data analysis and modelling tools with Modern Excel, Power Query, VBA and Office Scripts - these tools are used daily by the Business Analytics and Systems team members, allowing for a faster response to business inquiries from various stakeholders. - Calculator for account volume analysis and LTL rate profitability analysis with automated functionalities for data importation from several system sources, data preparation for analysis, and data exportation. - Integration and consolidation of Excel tools to streamline recurring procedures, allowing for time savings and better access to account information. - Tool for linehaul cost monitorization and standard linehaul cost definition. - Automated template for rate proposals to clients. - Calculator for LTL shipment Spot Quote based on client existing rates, applying the cubing rule, lineal foot rule, terminal rule and regressive rating. - Collaboration with multiple departments in several projects. - Examples: - Information collection and data consolidation for preliminary calculation of standard LTL rates. - Data importation and consolidation tool for monitoring cross-border tariff history and listing the most recent rate for all lanes. - Tool for daily monitorization of changes in core business files and CSV exportation to allow the use of the information in those files by other systems in the company.
I was brought to Corus as an Excel consultant to develop a solution to gather employees' timesheet data and convert it into the proper format to allow uploading data in a batch to the company’s payroll system. I proposed and developed a set of tools and procedures that interact with each other and complement each other to form a complete timesheet processing system. This system processes over 100 team timesheet summary files with information of over 2,000 employees each pay period, and includes mechanisms to keep track of the information received and processed, automatic generation of documents, and detect and treat possible errors and validate the data before the final upload to the system. The scope of my work grew and was extended to other areas and departments (other areas of Payroll, Employee Rewards and Compensation and Finance,) where I automated several procedures, allowing Managers and their teams to save time by streamlining work processes and producing more consistent and error-free documents.
- Payroll projects: automation of employee timesheet processing and data upload to Dayforce (data verification and preparation of mass input file for payroll data uploading) - Total Rewards projects: automation of the workflow for analysis, proposal, review and communication of salary increases. - Finance projects: automation of Labor Distribution reports generation and distribution to business managers.
I was invited to join the Big Dog Containers' team to assess its business work systems and implement the necessary changes to simplify the workflow and produce faster and more accurate deliverables. Mostly with VBA programming in Excel and Outlook, daily tasks will be completed in a small fraction of the time they were before, in a consistent professional format, leading to none or very few errors. Some examples of streamlined procedures are: - Updating the databases, - Sending operational emails to stakeholders, - Generating invoices or statements of account for clients, - Responding to sale inquiries by generating custom quotes on the fly, and - Accessing the current inventory status.
