With 12+ years of experience across Latin America, Africa, and Europe, I design and lead initiatives that strengthen climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable value chains, and rural livelihoods. My work focuses on turning ambitious sustainability and development goals into operational programs that deliver durable impact. I have worked across humanitarian, development, and private-sector contexts to structure partnerships, design methodologies, and support the implementation of multi-country initiatives improving food security and climate resilience. I am particularly motivated by systemic approaches that connect producers, governments, NGOs, and the private sector around shared long-term solutions. At IFRC, I supported the development and regional implementation of climate-smart livelihoods initiatives across 13 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Operating within the global Programmatic Partnership (PPP - funded by DG ECHO), my work focused on mainstreaming nature-based solutions, agroecology, and income diversification into humanitarian response and recovery. Key contributions: - Co-designed and rolled out the Climate-Smart Livelihoods Toolkit to shape community-level interventions through a climate and food systems lens. - Facilitated regional capacity-building, training over 200 staff and volunteers through tailored Training of Trainers workshops and webinars, strengthening local ownership and technical quality. - Supported the creation of the LAC Climate and Environment Roadmap (2024–2026), ensuring national strategies aligned with global commitments. - Promoted south-south knowledge exchange between practitioners in Africa and Latin America, emphasizing regenerative agriculture and community resilience. - Supported strategic planning, reporting, and donor compliance (ECHO, USAID, AECID), including cross-sector integration with DRR, cash, and shelter teams. This position allowed me to link high-level strategy with field-based innovation, helping build the case for more inclusive, data-driven, and locally adapted climate interventions.
In eastern DRC, a region affected by recurrent conflict and acute humanitarian needs, I led the design and implementation of food security and livelihoods programs supporting over 10,000 vulnerable households. The interventions focused on restoring agricultural production, improving access to quality planting material, and enabling household income recovery through agroecological practices and value chain strengthening. Key contributions: - Managed a CHF 2M+ budget and led a team of 7 field officers, ensuring operational efficiency and a 90%+ implementation rate in a complex and volatile environment. - Coordinated the multiplication and distribution of cassava planting material, in partnership with 19 local farmer organizations and agricultural extension services. - Facilitated the delivery of agricultural kits to 3,000 households and food and non-food assistance to more than 10,000 households. - Developed and applied evidence-based planning tools, including community consultations, household surveys, and focus group discussions to guide targeting and activity design. - Strengthened coordination with local authorities and humanitarian actors, representing ICRC in clusters and technical meetings and contributing to alignment with national policies. This experience sharpened my capacity to lead integrated recovery interventions, manage large-scale operations in fragile contexts, and balance immediate humanitarian needs with long-term sustainability.
During a short-term mission in Venezuela, I was deployed to support the Economic Security team in the design of context-specific agricultural and livelihoods responses. Amid a deepening humanitarian crisis, my work focused on understanding local needs, market dynamics, and community capacities to inform ICRC’s operational strategy for the country. Key contributions: - Led a comprehensive field assessment covering over 400 households, integrating household surveys, market analysis, and participatory rural appraisals. - Identified viable value chains (cassava, corn, vegetables) and proposed short- and medium-term responses adapted to urban, peri-urban, and rural settings. - Formulated technical proposals for agroecological production, local fodder development, solar-powered cold chains, and good agricultural practices (GAPs) tailored to the Venezuelan context. - Conducted stakeholder mapping and engagement, meeting with government institutions, cooperatives, NGOs, and research actors to identify opportunities for coordination and partnership. This mission contributed to reorienting ICRC’s agricultural programming in Venezuela, anchoring interventions in data-driven insights and building a roadmap for implementation.
As Regional Agronomist, I provided strategic and technical support to ICRC operations in nine countries across West and North Africa, including Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Chad, and Libya. I supported the design and implementation of agriculture and livelihoods recovery programs in fragile and conflict-affected settings, ensuring technical quality, contextual relevance, and adherence to humanitarian standards. Key contributions: - Led the design of recovery projects on staple and vegetable production, regenerative agriculture, soil restoration, and income diversification. - Coordinated the distribution of quality inputs and worked with suppliers and public institutions to improve seed quality and procurement systems. - Strengthened the capacity of agricultural institutions through coaching, technical accompaniment, and institutional alignment. - Integrated agroforestry practices, including moringa, as part of broader resilience strategies. - Developed standardized tools for M&E, procurement, and program design to support harmonized, evidence-based planning. - Trained 160+ staff through workshops and mentoring, promoting cross-country learning. - Participated in FSL clusters and aligned programs with international standards such as SPHERE and SEADS. This role allowed me to connect operational delivery with capacity building and policy coherence, strengthening the resilience of rural systems in complex environments.
At HavaMad, I built and managed an inclusive sourcing system for a 24T/day fruit juice processing plant, linking the company to 25 cooperatives and over 1,000 producers across more than 1,500 hectares. I created the procurement department from scratch, led a dedicated team, and integrated sustainability, quality, and traceability across the supply chain. Key contributions: - Designed and implemented a fully traceable procurement system, ensuring the delivery of over 1,500 tons of certified fruit per year under ECOCERT, ISO 22000, and Fair for Life standards. - Led the recruitment, training, and supervision of a 9-person procurement team, and developed manuals, processes, and performance indicators to professionalize operations. - Rolled out capacity-building programs for 100+ producers, covering sustainable farming practices, contract management, financial literacy, and health access. - Established partnerships with GIZ, IFAD, and public institutions to co-finance farmer support packages, strengthen agroecological practices, and expand access to markets and technical services. - Oversaw the development of internal procedures for logistics, contracts, quality control, and compliance with social and environmental standards. This role solidified my ability to structure inclusive value chains, manage multi-stakeholder partnerships, and embed sustainability in private sector supply systems.
Conducted a detailed study on agro-ecological practices in the vegetable farming sector of La Réunion, focusing on solutions to erosion and biodiversity loss: "Study on Agro-Environmental Practices and Public Incentive Mechanisms within the Vegetable Farming Sector in La Réunion." Objectives of the study: - Establish an assessment and typology of agricultural practices and farms. - Analyze the incentive measures of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy), particularly the rural development program, and propose adaptations to the context of La Réunion. - Identify and propose additional levers for improving agricultural practices. The study was conducted in partnership with the Parc National de La Réunion and in coordination with various local agricultural sector actors, including the DAAF, the Chamber of Agriculture, CIRAD, and AD2R.
