Academic translator, trained as an art historian, with extensive experience translating from Russian and French (Yale University Press, OUP, etc.), editing academic and popular texts. Experienced editor/cooy editor of PhD theses. CELTA qualified teacher of English (ESOL, ESL, English for Academic Purposes), particularly working with undergraduate and postgraduate students. Have taught postgraduates, run postgraduate research projects and international academic partnerships, academic administration. From 2019 I taught at European University at St Petersburg in Russia (I resigned in March 2022), with abundant experience in Russia, researching, writing and editing texts on art history and culture, acting as liaison between Russian and international institutions. I have a rich and colourful history of working in the USSR/Russia, working with news agencies and film makers covering perestroika and then the early years of rapid change, from the mid-1980s to mid-1990s. As an art historian, I have worked to facilitate exhibitions and publications that increase knowledge of art and cultural history. Research area - collecting Old Master Drawings and paintings, Russian collecting history, Russian museums. Fluent in Russian, with excellent French. Committed believer in the value of digital humanities projects, but for academic purposes and as a means of conveying research results to wider audiences.
