New York, New York, United States
As a recent Arcadia University graduate, I am looking forward to pursuing further education at Columbia University in the fall of 2020. In New York, I will continue to cultivate my interest in medieval studies and my craft as a future historian.
At Arcadia, I have been fortunate enough to work with two great professors and aid them in their research as academics. This firsthand experience allowed me to understand the process of collegiate research and what it entails. Since I hope to remain within academia, this employment by my department of Historical and Political Studies has been critical in my development as a scholars. I have helped Dr. Nancy G. Rosoff in the final stages of writing her book and publishing British and American School Stories, 1910 – 1960: Fiction, Femininity, and Friendship (2019), which was co-authored with Stephanie Spencer. These experiences as an undergraduate researcher have been invaluable to me, giving me the confidence to be a future academic myself.
I worked with high school seniors, juniors, and sophomores to guide them through the process of applying and financing college. Our organization also worked with the Honors Program at Arcadia University to provide the students with the materials that would help them apply for jobs and develop their interview skills for the hiring process. There was a lot of information I accumulated as I applied for college. It was nice that I could put this useful information to good use and teach other bright young mind how the college application process works. It is important to make sure we give the time and resources to thesis student to make sure they know that college is a possibility for them in their future.
I was honored to intern with House of Representatives in the summer of 2019. It was an invaluable experience to work in my home office, understand local needs, and interact with the community. I learned first hand where the people and their voices meet the federal government. I know it was a privilege and an honor to work for the government in any capacity. I look forward to utilizing the skills I learned during this time in my future endeavors.
