In my role as Sr. Director of IT at Parabilis Medicines, I lead the technology strategy and infrastructure that underpins our mission to accelerate the development of a new modality of peptide therapeutics. I collaborate closely with Data Science, R&D, and Clinical teams to integrate advanced analytics platforms and real-world data into decision-making. By overseeing the design and security of our IT systems, ensuring they meet GxP, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements, I help maintain a robust and compliant environment for large-scale data processing and research. Responsible for the management, strategy, and execution of IT infrastructure projects and supporting the creation of new companies. During my time at Third Rock Ventures I overhauled the on-premise infrastructure and migrated many services to SaaS offerings or into AWS. I assisted with on-boarding a new MSP into the company to manage our End User Support services and to act as an engineering bench to pull from for larger projects. I also organized the company's first IT steering committee to create and prioritize technology project ideas to proactively address issues within operations. When projects reached maturity, I helped with the launch of new companies. I guided the newly formed leadership team through the process of choosing core services, identifying business critical IT functions, and designing systems to support the scientific teams. I also helped with the initial office space and lab build outs as well as working with the computational biologists to create suitable AWS and Azure environments. This included infrastructure design, system requirement definitions, and the beginning of the companies IT SOP and policy documentation. - Worked with AWS engineers to be the first to roll out the new Biotech Blueprint which integrates security and compliance into the initial AWS setup for new companies. - Created a detailed IT cost breakdown to manage a first IT budget and provide data to the finance team for chargeback to project groups. - Updated networking equipment in all 4 offices to Cisco Meraki, simplifying the overall design and reducing support requests due to network related issues. - Reduced the reliance on physical server infrastructure by migrating email services to O365, shared network storage to cloud solution, and phone service to Zoom Phone off a legacy PRI system. - Analyzed and updated the WAN connection design to be more appropriately sized for the needs of the office, reducing overall cost and increasing service reliability.
As a Product Owner for three separate teams, I had to balance the business demands and driving vision across these multiple areas of disparate technologies. I was responsible for ensuring the teams are focused on the “right” work and do not lose sight of the big picture.
