Casey is currently a senior in Temple University’s College of Education. She is pursuing a degree in Secondary Education and French. Additionally, she is pursuing a certification in teaching ESL. She will graduate in May 2016 with a B.S. in Secondary Education and French (K-12) and teaching certificate, as well as a teaching certificate for ESL (K-12). Her ultimate career goal is to teach both French and ESL by creating a communicative and enriching language environment that facilitates and supports students’ second language acquisition. Casey has a tremendous passion for teaching and learning. She firmly believes that education is of paramount importance, and that all children deserve equal access to education regardless of their racial, socioeconomic, or linguistic backgrounds. In her teaching career, Casey hopes to work toward closing the achievement gap. Through her experience as an AmeriCorps member in Jumpstart, Casey has already taken one step toward that goal by preparing children in low-income neighborhoods for school success.
