About

Since I am 16, Turning and Milling Machines from conventional machines to 5-axis CNC machining centers have been part of my life. When I started to work as an 16 year old apprentice at the beginning of a 3 1/2 year job education I did not know the opportunities I have when I am focussed, curious and keen on learning. After the apprenticeship I took over the position as shift supervisor in the CNC milling shop where I have been responsible for 7 CNC 4-axis machining centers and a staff of 5 guys. My job was to keep the machines running no matter what happens. Repair work, designing and building new clamping fixtures, NC-programming, motor spindle exchanges and whatever else popped up. In small companies there is no designated guy for each job, you need to learn solving problems on your own. After almost 2 years in this position I decided to go back to school, so I signed in at a technical college for mechanical engineering. The time in school was an eye-opener to me. I already had the practical basics but the theory was missing until I started the advanced education there. During this time I had my first contact to my current employer when I had the chance to do my practical work there. After the technical college I was asked to join this company as machining expert in the commissioning department where I spend 1 year before I moved further to the proposals engineering where I've invested another 5 years in my career by projecting from 5-axis stand alone CNC machining centers up to 250 mio. € full automatic heavy duty manufacturing lines. Those 5 years where definitely a huge gain in my experience and learning curve. Every project proposal starts with the same: Your customer gives you a challenge and you need to find the best way for him to master this challenge. This requires from you to be creative, an out of the box mindset, forward thinking and you need to understand and work together with your customer in a team. Beside the time as a proposals engineer I wanted to dive deeper into economicals, so I made my Master Professional Degree (CCI) after work and on weekends. Since 2018 I am working in the Key Account Management. In this role I can support my customers from the very first step of a project to make them become better, more efficient, more competitive - #onestepahead. What do I like the most of my job? Every morning, I can never be sure what the day will bring. The diverse tasks and challenges require a fresh and flexible mindset - everyday.
