About

Hi, thank you for visiting my linkedin profile. I am a reporter, covering stories in the Netherlands and worldwide. During my career I have reported on different international disasters and conflicts as well as witnessing their consequences. I have covered the Balkan wars, reported intensively on the Kosovo crisis and reported from northern Iraq and Syria. I have witnessed the tragedy and effects of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka and the earthquake in Haiti. I strongly believe in a well-informed world. It is now increasingly important to bring the true message across. The real story has to reach its audience, looking at all the angles and implications of different conflicts, wars or disasters. How does it effect the daily lives of people? And what are or could be the consequences for the rest of the world? I always aim to tell the story from the perspective of the every day person so the viewer can identify or associate him or herself with the lives of the people in the story. I am particularly proud of my coverage of the wars in former Yugoslavia and of my emotional interview with Paddy Hill, one of the former ‘Birmingham Six’. It is a tragic story of six Irish men who had been unjustly jailed for 16 years. Other prominent figures I have interviewed include Kofi Annan, Frederik de Klerk and Bernard Kouchner as the UN administrator in Kosovo. Last summer I went back to Kosovo to find a girl I briefly met in a refugee camp in the chaotic days of april 1999. Please follow the link below to watch the whole story
