Dr. Carol Reed has over 20 years of experience in drug and device development in the areas of pulmonary diseases, psychiatry, cardiology, gastroenterology and infectious diseases, in addition to 10 years’ experience as a physician in the practice of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Prior to becoming an Operating Partner at HighCape, Dr. Reed was Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President at Clinical Data, Inc. from 2005 through 2011 where she was responsible for the development and approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the antidepressant VIIBRYD®, and for the launch of DNA sequencing tests for cardiac genetic disorders including Long QT Syndrome. Prior to this time, Dr. Reed was Vice President, Medical Affairs at Genaissance Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Reed earned an MD from the Rush Medical College in Chicago and an M.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. Based on her experience in pulmonary diseases and device development, Dr. Reed is a key scientific advisor to HighCape’s portfolio company, Wellinks.
