I am a proven C-suite executive with over 28 years of experience delivering transformative outcomes across the full origination-to-stabilisation lifecycle of large-scale, multi-asset, and state-significant developments with organisations at the forefront of global real estate, infrastructure, and urban regeneration. With a track record in establishing the high-performance cultures, innovative financing structures, public/private partnerships and full design to delivery capabilities to deliver exceptional financial outcomes for global leaders including Brookfield, Charter Hall, Macquarie Capital, and Lend Lease, I have consistently led with a focus on culture, relationships, and long-term value creation. Currently serving as Chief Development Officer for New Murabba, I have had the opportunity to shape one of the most ambitious urban developments in the world, Riyadh’s new downtown and centrepiece of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Previously as Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Brookfield Properties Australia, I oversaw a multibillion-dollar national portfolio and delivered some of Australia’s most complex and high-profile mixed-use precincts, including Brookfield Place Sydney, 405 Bourke Street Melbourne, Elizabeth Quays and One The Esplanade (Chevron Tower) in Perth. Before that with Lendlease, I managed infrastructure design and delivery for the 90 Ha masterplan and development plan for Sydney 2000 Olympic Village Operations and Logistics Centre and subsequently, was invited to Madrid to lead a local team to work with the Madrid City Council and regional Government to develop 2012 Olympic Plan and bid strategy. Throughout, via strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement, I have developed a reputation as the leader who can overcome hurdles on development investment opportunities. With a strong reputation in delivery, my legacy has been negotiating innovative capital structures, landmark approvals and solutions to development stalemates that have turned assets not only into above expectation returns, but that have redefined the future legacy of major cities for multiple generations to come.
Appointed as the inaugural CDO, to provide strategic leadership to the development of Riyadh’s new modern downtown and home for 300,000 people by 2040, including the centrepiece of the Mukaab, a 400-meter cube and first of a kind icon. As a key member of the executive leadership group and numerous committees, I have delivered the Concept Masterplan approval (19 sq km), detailed Masterplan and concept design of globally innovative projects including the world’s largest inhabited structure, 4600 apartments, 2300 hotel keys across 7 assets, 360,000sqm of retail space, 4 office assets, 8 metro stations and 45,000 seat world cup stadium. This role involves extensive and intensive stakeholder engagement and leadership in a multicultural context in addition to the establishment and leadership of a 180-strong, world-class development management function with full integration across the project lifecycle and high technical, design, development and commercial competence.
Promoted to lead the transition of Brookfield Properties from a balance sheet developer and owner to an internally managed property fund business, as manager of multiple funds and balance sheet investments with joint ownership while continuing to deliver on the services to run the legacy assets. Shared responsibility for the investment performance of the core portfolio and full responsibility for development assets and a team of 170 staff, operating in a complex stakeholder and regulatory environment. Driving above benchmark return, key highlights include landmark Brookfield Place Sydney in a first of its kind process with Transport for NSW, Chevron Tower in Perth, involving negotiation of a complex capital partnership and recovery of 405 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
Outperformed expectations, achieving high returns and securing 9 figures in development management fees. Built and led a best-in-class development team that quickly became a partner of choice for joint ventures in the local market, leading a productive relationship globally with incumbent builder Multiplex. I implemented a best-in-class WHS management system that delivered all projects over 11 years with zero Serious Safety Incidents.
