I am the Chief Governance and Compliance Officer at Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), the manager of Norway’s sovereign wealth fund. It is a long title, I know, but that's probably because I have a broad set of responsibilities. I am responsible for exercising the fund’s ownership rights and promoting good governance and responsible business conduct with the fund’s investments in almost 9 000 companies around the world. This includes policy development, company dialogue and voting, supporting sustainability initiatives and research, and developing and implementing the fund’s climate action plan. My responsibilities also includes the fund’s control and operational risk activities, compliance, and legal and tax services. I'm a member of the fund’s executive management group and investment committee. I have an extensive international career as a lawyer and executive, both in corporates and financial institutions, and have served as a non-executive director on several boards and advisory councils. I am passionate about the role of finance in promoting sustainable and long-term value, both for shareholders and stakeholders. By education, I have a law degree from the University of Oslo, a Master of Economics from the Norwegian School of Business Administration, and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School.
