Having worked across the value chain in the shipping industry – from building a barge terminal, to designing a fully automated sea container terminal, to creating Smart Trade Solutions for innovative and automated sea terminals, to managing a sea terminal to developing inland ports and to introducing multi modal transportation in Africa, including air-cargo shipments – I understand the commercial drivers and nuances of the global supply chain and am well aware on how to manage the associated risks and to extract value out of the business. I have spearheaded expansion through a combination of acquisition, concession agreements, creating gateways & trade corridors which would connect, enable value added services and incentives to partners and investors. My significant experience with governments, businesses and organizations worldwide gives me an insight with expertise in developing a comprehensive maritime, logistical service from cargo handling ports to specialized industrial locations. Heading the Maputo International Container Terminal, MICD ( Maputo Intermodal Container Depot) and Komatipoort dry-port (SAF). My key tasks will include: 01. Expand Maputo International Container Terminal to 500,000TEU capacity (Phase-1) and eventually to a 1mil TEU capacity (Phase-2). 02. Expand MICD ( Maputo Intermodal Container Depot) and double the handling capacity. 03. Greenfield development of Komatipoort dry-port in a new location in South Africa. Link it with rail and road for seamless transit of cargoes. 04. Develop new corridors from SAF, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Botswana etc. to enhance the cargo throughput via the port. 05. Focus on multi-modal logistics projects, including shipping market analysis. Key Portfolios: 01. Project Management (Port & dry-port expansion in Mozambique & South Africa). 02. Currently building two dry port facilities, one in Rwanda & other in Kurdistan. Providing consultation to TNPA (Transnet National Ports Authority) how to sort the dredging and make use of tidal variations to maximize vessel utilization. • Idea & knowhow to deploy Moor-Master system in Ngqura Port. • Engaged with TNPA to counter the effect of long-waves in the harbor, especially Cape Town, Port Elizabeth & Ngqura. • Advisor to Transnet, APMT, DPW, Bollore etc. to improve operational and procedural working in ports, rail networks & overall business development. • Implementation of NAVIS (TOS) across all South African ports. • Participated to convert MPT's at Durban and Cape Town into container terminals. • Displayed excellent leadership skills in launching the new container terminal called Coega (Ngqura).
