I have had a fortunate blend of formal and informal education, enabling me to develop a broad perspective across multiple areas of business. Building and running my own businesses in industries ranging from hospitality to medical supplies has instilled a strong work ethic and a high level of reliability. These experiences have given me direct exposure to the pressure, responsibility and sustained effort required to keep a business operating and growing. I am currently working in cybersecurity in the Netherlands, where I focus on defending networks through firewall configuration and responding to cyber threats. I lead a team of cybersecurity engineers making me responsible for team performance, operational coordination and maintaining high standards in incident response and security monitoring.
Exxel Medical is a New Zealand based company that came to life late 2019. At the earliest stages of the Covid-19 outbreak, we realised a potential shortage of medical and lifestyle products, due to the global centralisation of so much product manufacture in China. At Exxel Medical we believe an "all eggs in one basket" globalisation ideology is not ideal, and believe that local industry can be competitive, innovative, and productive. At Exxel Medical we support and incorporate as much locally sourced product and manufacturing that is available - we believe this creates dependable standards and quicker turn around times. Exxel Medical is owned and operated by medical doctors and allied personnel who can quickly adapt to locally-driven medical demands and lifestyle changes.
I am the General Manager, Managing Director, and Owner of my own bar. My duties are vast, and inculde; hiring, firing, and HR, securing supply deals, payroll, data collection and processing (Excel), accounts, ordering, marketing and promotions, PR, customer relations, menu creation, quality control, and everything else associated with running your own small business.
I was a key part of a three-year renovation and restoration of a historic building that was badly damaged after the Christchurch earthquakes. On the admin side, I assisted in insurance battles, organising contractors on the building site, obtaining both resource and building consent, and passing all relevant council standards (Health and Safety as well as building). I was also heavily involved in a hands-on capacity with the physical building. Had the build been done through a registered building company I would have had my building apprenticeship as well.
