Wet laboratory - I facilitate Next Generation Sequencing, Nanostring, Single cell applications and most of the molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, cloning) related requests from my colleagues for clinical research. I bridge my colleagues between their science and the technology that can help achieve their goals. Administrative duties on top of my primary role - 1) I handle the bulk of IT functions in the laboratory - From level one basic user technical support, OS upgrades, database, network monitoring, data management of the server, firewall / security as well as procurement of both hardware and software. 2) I am involved with safety related functions of the lab and ISO compliance. Risk assessments, chemical inventory, having updated MSDS, waste management and general ergonomical well being of my colleagues. ISO 9001 for our laboratory with Singhealth as a whole from start to certification. 3) I also established and maintain workflows, processes to increase efficiency / productivity as well as general planning of operations. They include expenditure management, maintenance of equipment in the laboratory, consumables & reagents monitoring. Keeping good vendor relations / management is also part of operations of the laboratory. 4) I educate and help undergrad / PhD students and various interns with wetlab related activities.
I worked in the core facility of the institute for microarrays / NGS. Microarrays - Handled samples from nucleic acid to pre-analysis stage. Familiar with both Illumina Beadarray and Affymetrix platforms. NGS - Handled mainly ChiP / DNA seq related library preparation for samples (utilizing illumina kits) in the institute. Familiar with RNA-seq library preparations as well. Nanostring - Handled the first generation nanostring machines.

Optimizing protocols and processes - translate work processes from research to production executable instructions for efficient and consistency whilst handling customer requests. Developing molecular biology tools and kits - to introduce the company's own line of molecular biology products to the market.
