In this role, I manage and coordinate the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program for UW-Madison. I prepare and process immigration documentation for current and prospective scholars. I also serve as a main point of contact for a portfolio of departments, as well as advise HR contacts and visiting scholars on immigration employment matters. Additionally, I monitor regulations and activities to ensure compliance with governmental agencies, and conduct educational programming on current U.S immigration practices.
Within the Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) Team, I managed, prepared, and filed a variety of non-immigrant visa petitions such as H-1B, L-1A/B,E-2/3, TN-1/2, R-1 and O-1 visas for foreign nationals and their dependents. I also served as a primary contact for 15+ companies and their employees requiring non immigrant visas. Additionally, I prepared and filed USCIS-issued requests for evidence as needed.
I conducted formal interviews with prospective students, and wrote up final reports to aid the admission process. I also led tours for visitors, presented at informational sessions, and created promotional material. Additionally, I represented the College thru virtual college fairs and social media platforms.
I assisted in managing tutoring resources for naturalization interviews and a pro-bono clinic filling out N-400 applications for clients. I regularly met and assisted Spanish speaking clients in person and over the phone, as well as presented a project to improve outreach to rural Iowan Spanish speakers seeking naturalization.
Under the office of U.S House Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14) I attended and reported on various Congressional hearings and briefings regarding immigration and foreign policy, among many others. I assisted with constituent correspondence and issues, and collaborated on district events and projects.
