Director and writer with 25+ years of experience spanning musical theatre, large-scale arena touring, live broadcast events and immersive entertainment. Productions in 30+ countries — from Madison Square Garden, the Staples Centre and the O2 Arena to the London Palladium and the Cairo Opera House. West End credits include Associate Director on Top Hat — The Musical (Chichester Festival Theatre, directed by Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall); Associate Director and Resident Director on Singin' In The Rain (Stage Entertainment, Palace Theatre London); and Associate Director on I Can't Sing — The X-Factor Musical (London Palladium, directed by Sean Foley, starring Cynthia Erivo). I re-mounted international productions of Singin' In The Rain in South Africa, Japan, New Zealand, Asia and in a full Russian-language staging in Moscow. Since 2019 I have been Writer and Associate Director on the annual Strictly Come Dancing — Professionals Live UK tour for Phil McIntyre Entertainment. Other live event credits include directing the Comic Relief Live Gala at the London Palladium (hosted by Sir Lenny Henry) and serving as Creative Director for the Oman Night Gala at the Cairo Opera House. In the arena world I was a founding creative team member on Walking With Dinosaurs — The Arena Spectacular (directed by Scott Faris), re-mounting all international versions across 100+ cities and 27 languages. Arena touring credits also include Staging Director on Alan Partridge Live — Stratagem (UK/Ireland, Netflix) and Director of Grandpa's Great Escape for Phil McIntyre Entertainment. Earlier work includes Dinosaurs In The Wild (immersive theatre, London/Manchester/Birmingham), Peggy Lee!(Melbourne International Festival), and Joe Starts Again (New York/Sydney/Melbourne — Green Room Award nomination, Best Director of a Musical). I have been a guest director and lecturer at the Arts Educational Schools and Urdang Academy in London, and the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. Annual UK touring production of Strictly Come Dancing — Professionals Live, featuring the professional dancers from the BBC television series. As Writer and Associate Director across consecutive productions, responsibilities span the full creative lifecycle: scripting all stage content including presenter links, performance introductions, comedy sequences and video narratives; supporting the overall creative vision and staging from rehearsal through to performance; and developing new material year-on-year to keep the production fresh for returning audiences. The tour plays major venues across the UK annually, reaching audiences of tens of thousands each year.
Associate Director on Top Hat — The Musical (music and lyrics by Irving Berlin), directed by Tony Award-winning Broadway director and choreographer Kathleen Marshall. The production originated at Chichester Festival Theatre before embarking on a major UK, Ireland and Paris tour. Responsibilities included supporting the director throughout the original rehearsal process, Re-staging the original production on behalf of the director, to translate it from a thrust stage version (Chichester) to a proscenium version for the tour, working with performers and creative teams across all production phases, and overseeing the show's staging and performance quality.
Creative Director for the Oman Night Gala Concert — the headline finale of the Arab Music Festival at the Cairo Opera House, Egypt. Responsible for the full creative vision and execution of the gala event, overseeing all performance, staging and production elements for the live event and television recording.
Directed the Live event for COMIC RELIEF at the London Palladium hosted by Sir Lenny Henry and featuring six current British comedians. Responsible for the full creative direction of the live event, coordinating performers, staging and production across all elements of the evening.
Staging Director on Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge Live — Stratagem: a major UK and Ireland arena tour subsequently released on Netflix. Responsible for all staging and production direction across the arena tour, working alongside Steve Coogan and the creative team to translate the production from rehearsal room to large-scale arena environments such as the O2 Arena in London. The filmed performance was released globally on Netflix.
