Professor Cameron Modisane is an accomplished academic leader and researcher with nearly two decades of experience across academia, the public sector, and industry. He currently serves as the Deputy Executive Dean of the College of Accounting Sciences (CAS) at the University of South Africa (UNISA), where he drives strategic initiatives in research, digital transformation, academic excellence, and postgraduate development. With a PhD in Accounting Sciences and professional designations including CISA, ISAP (SA) and CCFO, Prof Modisane is widely recognised for his expertise in internal auditing, IT auditing, governance, artificial intelligence, digital assurance, and 4IR/5IR technologies. His work spans the intersection of auditing, technology, and public sector accountability, contributing to policy reform, capability development, and the future of digital professions. He is the founder and lead of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Multidisciplinary Innovation Studies (CAIMIS) under UNISA’s Catalytic Niche Area 6 (4IR and Digitalisation). His research advances AI-enabled continuous auditing, governance innovation, and digital transformation across sectors including accounting, government, health, agriculture, and energy. Prof Modisane has an expanding publication profile that includes peer-reviewed journal articles, international conference papers, and book chapters, such as contributing to Continuous Auditing with AI in the Public Sector (CRC Press, 2024). He also collaborates internationally on continuous auditing research with teams in South Africa and Turkey, and serves as a reviewer for reputable academic journals. A sought-after speaker and media contributor, he provides expert commentary on governance, ethics, emerging technologies, and public sector reform on platforms such as SABC, eNCA, Radio 2000, SAFM, YFM and TruFM.
