About

I am currently working as a freelance Transport Planner / Economist. I have a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil with Honours) and an MSc in Economic Analysis. I have worked internationally in over 13 countries including Australia, the U.K., South Africa, Turkey and India during more than 20 years. I have a broad range of experience specialising in technical and economic project appraisal and feasibility, public transport and multimodal transport planning, Bus Rapid Transit, all aspects of transport modelling (specification, matrix building, demand, choice, assignment), bespoke modelling, demand and revenue forecasting, traffic engineering, cost benefit analysis and business case development. I have filled various roles from project manager and technical team leader to individual consultant for clients including the World Bank, Asia Development Bank, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development as well as local and national governments and the private sector. While having worked in numerous facets of transport planning and design, I have particular interest in using my experience to solve transport and logistics problems in both urban and regional/national settings within the context of increasing demands on scarce resources. Crucially this requires the efficient use of space and resources in a manner that creates more liveable and sustainable (environmentally, economically, socially, financially) cities while understanding and being able to quantify the benefits and impacts of transport policy and infrastructure interventions on all stakeholders.

Completed a two year MSc in Economic Analysis via PhD classes specialising in econometric and mathematical modelling in addition to time series, growth, labour, macroeconomic and trade models. More specifically, the key foci were on the design and estimation of econometric models within the context of establishing causality. These included linear regression models, non-linear models such as logit and probit with extensions to random utility models, models with censoring, truncation and sample selection complications (tobit), and panel data modelling techniques.
