As a Dietetics Student Representative, I have the honour of joining the School of Health Science Board Committee, the highest governance instrument of the School, to provide input on decisions that affect our student community. During the School Board Committee meetings, I share the achievements and positive experiences of my peers with the School, raise challenges that by cohort is facing, as well as propose suggestions to enhance the experience of students in my cohort.
The UNSW School of Health Science Student Welfare Action Group is a group created by the School of Health Science to address the welfare of students under the School of Health Science. Staff and students of the School of Health Science collaborate together in meetings to discuss how to better student welfare and take action to better student welfare. As the co-lead of UNSW School of Health Science Student Welfare Action Group, I have: - Led School of Health Science staff and students in meetings and creating discussions. - Hosted meetings to address topics surrounding student welfare and the actions that are necessary or intended to improve student welfare. - Created events aimed to address student welfare.
As a tutor, I have: - Planned, developed and created resources for students as part of the Resources and Development Team. - Taught classes of over 20 students. This allowed me to gained experience with public speaking and critical thinking. - Sharpen my skills in using Word, Excel, Google Docs and Google Sheets.
The UNSW Allied Health Society unites and drives students to excel outside the framework of academic life and to institute a network of future Pharmacist, Dietitians, Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists who aspire towards similar goals. The UNSW Allied Health Society aims to build a community of friends and professionals built around common principles of honesty and respect, promote healthier lifestyles and to defend our profession and its values. As the President of the Allied Health Society, I have: - Led a team of 23 executives and year representatives to create and host social and academic events for students studying any allied health programs. - Collaborated and communicated with presidents from other societies to create and host social and academic events for students studying courses related to medicine and health. - Attended and contributed to discussions in meetings with faculty staff from the Medicine Faculty and the School of Health Science, as well as students from other societies both who are within and outside of the Medicine and Health Student Committee.
