I was working for a professor at The George Washington University on a coding project pertaining to India. Since 2004, India has been home to a leftist extremist movement in eastern and southern India, in the form of a Maoist insurgency. The project involves the creation of a dataset of incidents of Maoist violence in India from 2004 to the present. We read news reports of Maoist insurgency-related events over the last 10 years from Indian news sources and coded the pertinent information.
