Beşiktaş, Istanbul, Türkiye
Urban and regional planner with a focus on spatial resilience, climate adaptation, and sustainable urban policy. Combining geospatial analysis and climate data interpretation, I develop data-driven strategies that guide cities toward resilience, inclusivity, and low-carbon transformation. Currently working on EU-aligned climate action frameworks, I lead GIS-based spatial vulnerability and climate risk assessments for urban areas. My experience bridges data analysis and policy design, integrating quantitative research with participatory planning methods to ensure that adaptation measures respond to both environmental and social realities. Passionate about sustainable city design, climate justice, and spatial equity, I collaborate with municipalities and multidisciplinary teams to build adaptive urban systems through nature-based solutions, spatial policy frameworks, and environmental governance. My work aims to ensure that cities are inclusive, well-planned, and climate-resilient, capable of addressing the social, spatial, and environmental challenges of the future.
•Coordinated the development and implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) for 20+ municipalities, ensuring the integration of sustainable practices and climate resilience into urban planning strategies. •Performed GIS-based climate risk analyses to identify local vulnerabilities and recommend site-specific adaptation strategies. •Conducted GIS-based assessments of climate risk, exposure, and vulnerability to support adaptation planning, with emphasis on local hazards, socio-economic sensitivity, and energy poverty. •Developed targeted mitigation and adaptation plans, aligning strategies with global sustainability frameworks including the European Green Deal, UN SDGs, and the Covenant of Mayors. •Delivered technical consultancy and capacity-building to local governments and stakeholders, guiding the alignment of align local climate strategies with national and European sustainability agendas. •Authored sections on urban resilience, climate vulnerabilities, and nature-based solutions in SECAP reports, contributing to evidence-based climate adaptation and sustainable urban planning through in-depth research and spatial analysis. •Contributed to EU-funded projects on sustainable urban development, renewable energy, and climate change by providing technical input, stakeholder communication, and content development.
•Performed spatial analyses and contributed to technical reporting and visual outputs during the pre-zoning phase for a local municipality, utilizing ArcGIS Pro, NETCAD, and graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator to support data-driven urban planning and communication.
•Supported the development of Implementation Zoning Plan Status Reports, contributing to data-driven urban planning and regulatory processes. •Performed comprehensive research, literature reviews, and spatial analyses to advance the Smart Erdemli vision, shaping urban development strategies and infrastructure planning.
As the founding president of the Urban Studies Club at Yıldız Technical University, I led the establishment of a multidisciplinary platform that explores the city through the lenses of planning, architecture, design, sociology, political science, and environmental studies. •During my presidency, I curated thematic programs such as “Boundary,” “Trace,” “Existence,” and “Change–Transformation–Cycle,” addressing topics including public and private spaces, gender and migration, urban memory, climate justice, gentrification, and post-disaster transformation. •We organized article discussions, workshops, talks, and field trips, building a creative and critical community around urban thinking. The club aims to research and understand space, the subjects and actors interacting within it, and to bring together individuals interested in urban studies through a participatory and critical approach.
