Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry is an honorary External Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Lakehead University, Barrie Campus, ON, Canada, Distinguished National Professor and Professor Emeritus at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), where he also served as Dean and Meritorious Professor in the Faculty of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering. With over four decades of academic excellence, he is renowned for his groundbreaking work in wireless sensor networks, intelligent instrumentation, IoT, telemedicine, structural health monitoring, and railway track condition monitoring. He has held prestigious positions, including Member of the Board of Governors of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council. Internationally, he served for 12 years as a Guest Scientist and Associate at ICTP (UNESCO/UNU), Trieste, Italy, and was a three-time European Union Erasmus Mundus Visiting Fellow. A prolific academic, Prof. Chowdhry has co-edited several influential books published by Springer and IGI Global, focusing on wireless networks and smart city technologies. His impact extends far beyond academia. He has empowered over 200 students from underprivileged communities to pursue global opportunities through programs like Fulbright, Erasmus, and Commonwealth Scholarships—fostering not only academic growth but also cross-cultural understanding. As a six-year Chair of IEEE (Karachi Section), the world’s largest professional technology organization, he has tirelessly advocated for advancing technology to improve lives worldwide.
