Executive leader in education and training who connects business, sport, and media — combining global strategy with the resilience of elite sport to create opportunities, partnerships, and growth. Former Australian Test cricketer turned CEO, broadcaster, and mentor, I unite elite performance, business leadership, and education innovation to help people and organisations succeed. After cricket I founded the McGain Group (2012–2020), delivering academy programs in cricket, cycling, and AFL while mentoring high performers. I also led tours to India, Darwin, and the World Schools Cricket Challenge, giving young players exposure to elite environments and pathways to first-class and international levels. At Prahran Cricket Club (2000–2023) I served as player, captain, coach, and administrator. Highlights: club’s all-time 1st XI wickets leader (436); Life Member and Hall of Fame; led integration of the women’s program via merger with Brunswick Park Ladies CC (with Cricket Victoria); and contributed to the Toorak Park redevelopment into a Cricket Australia Elite Tier 2 venue with full night-cricket capability. Today I lead the National Training College of Australia (NTCA), driving growth in international education through pathways, research, and partnerships. NTCA has expanded across hospitality, IT, and trades, secured university articulation, and built strong collaborations with industry and government in Australia and overseas. Alongside my executive role, I’m a commentator and host with SEN, and previously with the ABC (2009–2019) across News 24, Grandstand, and The Drum. I also mentor in high-performance sport, particularly spin bowling, drawing on guidance from Shane Warne and Terry Jenner. I’ve served the game off the field as Victorian Players’ Representative with the Australian Cricketers’ Association (2008–2011), achieving 100% membership and contributing to MOU reviews and the formative BBL framework. I also served as an Advisory Board Member at Salesian College Chadstone (2012–2018), supporting strategy, governance, and community initiatives. I began in finance and IT with a major international bank, building strengths in strategy, change management, and client relationships — a foundation that underpins my work across sport, entrepreneurship, education, and media. I build partnerships that create opportunity — empowering students, supporting grassroots sport, and collaborating globally. My focus is always on people, performance, and sustainable impact.
As CEO of the National Training College of Australia (NTCA), I lead strategy, growth, and partnerships for a private college delivering VET and higher education pathways in Australia and overseas. My focus is on building student-first programs, industry collaborations, and global opportunities that deliver lasting impact. Key Achievements: Expanded student capacity to 500+ annually, securing articulation agreements with Deakin, La Trobe, and Chisholm Institute for diploma-to-degree pathways. Initiated a sector-first research partnership with Deakin University on the survival of private colleges, positioning NTCA as an innovator and thought leader. Diversified programs across hospitality, IT (Telecommunications, DevOps, Full Stack Web), and trades (Carpentry, Plastering, Tiling) to align with workforce demand. Built industry pipelines with major Australian organsations, embedding work-integrated learning and employment outcomes. Designed an international education strategy for China and Southeast Asia, including 2+2 and 1+1 pathways and sport-focused leadership programs. Guided NTCA through policy and market shifts, achieving a 40% cost efficiency target during COVID-19 while protecting staff and student outcomes. Maintained ASQA and CRICOS compliance while expanding program offerings and capacity, and upgrading NTCA to a Level 2 College. Developed a high-performance executive team and culture focused on accountability, innovation, and student experience. Impact: Under my leadership, NTCA has evolved into a market-leading private college — recognised for its global education pathways, innovative research, and partnerships that connect students to universities, industry, and future careers.

Enhanced SEN’s reputation by consistently balancing professional expertise with a personable, engaging style that builds audience loyalty.
