Reporting to the CIO, I led software development teams in the development and support of systems used in the day-to-day operations of the Airline as well as leading a world class team of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Data Engineers in the design and build of AI based systems. - Built from the ground-up, Air Canada's AI capability including: - hiring of key talent including management and individual contributors. - selection of key vendors to help jump start initial project deliveries. - selection of tools and technologies including for our platform; ML pipelines; feature engineering; and simulation and optimization engines. - development and institutionalization of our AI playbook. - Delivered key OPS projects in the Cargo, Network Planning and Systems Operational Control (SOC) that drove both operational efficiencies and increased revenue in the Airline. - Introduced comprehensive automated testing across all product releases that improved both delivery quality and predictability but also led to a significant improvement in application availability. - Led AC IT's insourcing program that has helped grow the internal capacity by more than 400 full time employees and reducing annual costs by more than $25,000,000.
