Norman Brook originally qualified as a secondary school teacher before returning to study sports coaching. He started his professional career in sport in 1982 when he was appointed as a British National Athletics Coach. Norman has worked for UK Athletics, Sports Council for Northern Ireland, British Triathlon Federation, Skillshare International (Coaching for Hope) and currently runs Brook Sport Consulting an international sports consulting business. Norman has held senior leadership positions in sport and has expertise in sports coaching, high performance sport, sports development, sports governance, sport for development and safeguarding in sport. He has authored a range of sports related books and resources. His specialist interests in sport at this time are safeguarding in sport, training facilitators in sports education, and sport as a means of addressing development outcomes. Norman has recently delivered consultancy services to FIFA, CAF, African Union Sports Council, GIZ, Sport for Social Change Africa, Play International, Common Goal, Right to Dream, IPC, UCI and World Triathlon. On a pro-bono basis he contributes to the work of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport, Safe Sport International, SASCOC, and publishes the weekly newsletter Safe Sport Storyline.

In 2024 working with FIFA Guardians, Confederation of African Football Safeguarding, Sport for Social Change Network Africa, African Union Sports Council, International Paralympic Committee (WPP), Play International, Common Goal and Right to Dream.
Responsible for Skillshare International's innternational volunteering, development and sport for development programmes in Southern Africa. Currently focused on building capacity and programming in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique and South Africa whilst providing technical assistance in other countries in the region.
