About

As Assistant State Design Standards Engineer, I assist with directing significant departmentwide projects related to standards development for use on state improvement projects. I am responsible for assisting in the creation, development, revision, monitoring, and interpretation, of design standards for the preparation of plans for the construction of highways and other transportation modes. My duties include review and publishing of MnDOT’s manuals (Facility Design Guide, Road Design, Technical, Standard Plans, and Standard Plates) and Technical Memoranda. My work also includes: providing solutions to problems encountered by design, maintenance, and construction personnel within MnDOT, counties, cities, and consulting engineering companies; research activities including literature searches on subjects related to highway design and assisting districts/division on monitoring performance of field experiments; and assistance in evaluating the crash-worthiness of barriers and other traffic control devices.
