Brian is a partner in the National Accounting Standards Group of RSM US LLP. His responsibilities include consulting with clients and engagement teams on complex accounting issues, facilitating training events and writing interpretive guidance for RSM publications. He is also responsible for monitoring standard setting by the FASB, EITF and the PCC and has been a member of AICPA and EITF working groups on business combinations and revenue recognition. Brian has been quoted numerous times in publications, including ThomsonReuters, ComplianceWeek and the Journal of Accountancy, and has also spoken at many conferences for organizations including the AICPA, SEC Institute and the Executive Enterprise Institute.
Brian is a partner in RSM's National Accounting Standards Group. His primary areas of expertise include general revenue recognition, software revenue recognition, asset impairments, and business combinations accounting. Brian’s responsibilities include consulting with clients and engagement teams on complex accounting issues associated with these subject matters, facilitating training events and writing interpretive guidance for RSM publications. He is also responsible for monitoring standard setting by the FASB, EITF and the PCC and has been a member of AICPA and EITF working groups on business combinations and revenue recognition.
Brian served as a resource on complex technical accounting matters for IBM's global accounting community. He was the primary contact for all complex revenue recognition issues arising from the Company’s Software Group. He presented at numerous internal IBM training sessions, primarily on software and other revenue recognition topics.
Brian was employed by Deloitte for over eight years, with his last position being a Senior Manager in the Firm’s Assurance Services Group. His experience included managing annual audit and quarterly review engagements for public clients primarily in the technology and manufacturing industries, consulting and providing training on various technical accounting matters as part of the Firm’s Global Offering Services Group while on an international assignment in London, and leading due diligence procedures for public offerings. Brian also spent three years in the Firm’s San Jose office working on audits of a variety of high-technology companies, including those in the software industry.
