Brian serves as the Vice President of IT for Provider Systems at BrightSpring Health Services. Prior to BrightSpring Health, Brian served as the Segment CIO for Humana’s Home business division. He and his team were responsible for delivering the technology solutions that enable the Home Segment to provide high-quality in-home care, including home visits, DME, infusion, and oxygen services, while driving the adoption of a Value-Based Care model throughout the segment. The Home Segment includes CenterWell Home Health (formerly Kindred) and OneHome, a leader in the home payer and convener space. Under Brian’s leadership, Home Solutions successfully acquired five companies, integrated key assets into the broader Humana ecosystem, and transitioned OneHome from a provider-based model to a payer-driven model by leveraging multiple capabilities in the Humana enterprise. This transformation generated over $100 million in annual value for Humana. Previously, Brian delivered technology solutions for Humana’s Provider space by driving innovative interoperability capabilities for Payor to Payor, Payor to Provider, Payor to Customer, and Provider to Provider. This technology team is at the center of CenterWell, Integrated Care, and Services Enablement and delivers significant enterprise value to Humana. Brian is the former Vice President and Segment CIO for Pharmacy Solutions, where he was responsible for information technology strategies and solutions supporting the pharmacy segment. Under his leadership, 750 associates and contractors were accountable for the continued development and integration of innovative, robust, and secure information technology systems. With more than 25 years of experience, Brian has a broad background in technology. Over the last decade, Brian has been instrumental in selecting, implementing, and building key technology solutions that have enabled both Humana’s Pharmacy and Home Solutions to grow from new lines of business to industry leading organizations: nation’s fourth largest Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) including the DomaniRx Joint Venture, nation’s largest Hospice pharmacy, second largest mail order pharmacy, and nation’s largest Home Health organization. In 2018, Brian played an integral role in implementing an augmented intelligence automation solution at Humana Pharmacy. This cutting-edge solution earned Humana IT a CIO 100 Award, which recognizes the top 100 companies at the forefront of innovation. Brian is a Kentucky native, and he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky.

      In July 2022, I assumed a new leadership role while continuing to oversee Humana’s Pharmacy operations until January 2023, and I maintained elements of this role within my Home Solutions role until the end of 2023. A key achievement during this period was the advancement of Humana’s FHIR capabilities, including the delivery of bulk FHIR capabilities for plan pricing. Additionally, I modernized the SQL environment supporting Humana’s medical records system, ensuring scalability and stability for this essential infrastructure. From inception, I led the Integrated Health/CenterWell 1.0 initiative, driving strategy, securing funding, and assembling teams. This initiative aims to create differentiated experiences by leveraging multiple CenterWell assets (Home, RX, and Primary Care) to enhance member engagement. I identified opportunities by analyzing pain points, friction across segments, and data analytics needs, which resulted in securing initial funding for what has become one of Humana’s top strategic objectives. Additionally, I led the CenterWell Innovation and Architecture teams. The innovation team explored emerging technologies, including VR training for Home Health clinicians, applications for blockchain, IOT and devices in the Home, and tech modernization strategies. The architecture team focused on unifying data and tech strategies across RX, Home, and Primary Care. We developed a comprehensive data architecture for CenterWell, and my team drove the initial discovery efforts that identified the optimal technology to bring these segments together. This work culminated in alignment on a Master Data Management solution with a contract to implement in place establishing a foundational data platform to support future innovation. Another key partnership I developed was with Availity, where we expanded existing capabilities and identified new market opportunities. My team successfully delivered a complete suite of payor dental capabilities for Humana.

      Extensive leadership experience in transforming and scaling pharmacy technology solutions to align with business strategies, drive operational efficiency, and enable sustainable growth. Managed IT operations with budgets of up to $75M annually, delivering innovative solutions that enhanced customer experiences and positioned Humana’s Pharmacy Solutions as a leader in the healthcare space. Designed and managed one of the largest Microsoft SQL Server-based transactional processing systems in the country, setting enterprise-wide standards for SQL configuration, stability, and support. Implemented innovations such as SQL-PURE storage frame, isolated tempDB on dedicated SSDs, and rapid multi-TB data copies.     Accomplishment Highlights Innovative Approach to Medicare Advantage Enrollments: Researched and delivered an innovative fully featured voice technology solution for initial Medicare Advantage enrollment, enabling business to capture increased market demand for Humana services. Data Center Disaster Recovery: Rebuilt all call center equipment (IVRs, CTI, Call Recording, Workforce Management, etc.) for the Humana enterprise into new Primary data center, maintaining 100% availability during a data center water main break, Transforming Enterprise SQL Server: Transformed Humana’s enterprise support and capability adoption for Microsoft’s SQL product resulting in a highly stable and scalable system comparable to Oracle on AIX. This effort also resulted in the enterprise adoption of PURE storage for data environments. Pharmacy Platform Replacement: Completed full gap closure in business capabilities and migrated 100% of pharmacy membership from a legacy pharmacy management system to a new system in 12 months while maintaining a seamless experience for patients through call center, web, mobile, and other channels. Digital Innovation: Delivered an innovative RX Digital experience by partnering with Salesforce to create the first HIPAA compliant eCommerce cloud product for the HealthCare industry, enabling scaled business capabilities for A/B testing, content management, intra-day deployments, and customer content personalization. CIO100 award: Created and deployed AI based solution in 2018 for our mail order pharmacy resulting in winning a CIO100 award. This solution automated electronic RX processing by identifying RXs, dosages, and instructions, validating data, and creating new customer-friendly instructions which are presented on pill bottles. OneHome Business Model Pivot: Delivered workflow and data capabilities, enabling business to pivot from provider based services to payor and convener services resulting in >$100M in incremental value annually to Humana.
