Strengthen scientific collaborations with key local partners, including IGAD, ICPAC, UoN, SEKU, and CETRAD, fostering joint research initiatives and advancing shared goals for sustainable development. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, I provided critical information for climate resilience planning and risk mitigation in changing precipitation patterns, utilizing cutting-edge Shared Socioeconomic Pathways Scenarios. Remit: • Implemented evaluation framework to assess the performance of CMIP6 models in simulating both mean and extreme climate events over East Africa. • Conducted a detailed comparative analysis with CMIP5 GCMs to contribute valuable insights into model advancements and deficiencies. • Developed effective climate adaptation strategies by leading evaluation and projection efforts of mean surface temperature over the East Africa region, utilizing state-of-the-art CMIP6 models. • Conducted a comprehensive assessment of East African population exposure to climate extremes under 1.5°C and 2.0°C warming levels, leveraging CMIP6 models. • Provided critical insights into the potential impacts of climate change on drought patterns by executing a detailed study on projected changes in meteorological drought over East Africa, employing Bias-adjusted CMIP6 models. Facilitated adaptive strategies in the face of changing climatic conditions through leading projection of concurrent temperature and precipitation extremes over East Africa throughout the 21st century under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways Scenarios.
