ACS Surgery & Trauma NP for Emory School of Medicine at Grady
Member of a team-based hospital medicine program working with a designated physician providing top patient care. Manage increasingly complicated patients with including but not limited to CHF & CKD exacerbations, DM, COPD, strokes, bowel obstructions, GI bleeds, PNA, encephalopathy, electrolyte disturbances, sepsis, and peri-op care. Conduct patient interviews and physical exams, documenting histories, health, and medical problems. Diagnose medical problems, develop care plans, prescribe and evaluate treatments using evidence-based practices. Determine need and arrange for specialty service consults. Coordinate patient care with support services to expedite patient care. Communicate empathically with patients and caregivers about diagnosis, treatments, tests, and prognosis. Engage with patients and families to align treatment goals and code status with wishes. Thoroughly document care plans and responses using EPIC. Assist with patients from admission through discharge including rounding and cross-cover. Educate nurses and support staff about patient diagnosis and treatments using evidence-based practices. Member of RN-MD Council improving team environment for providers and nurses.
