Australia
A graduate from the Australian National University with a passion for accounting, community engagement, and helping others.
Keen for exposure beyond the Australian superannuation industry, this role exposed me to acquire a wealth of new responsibilities, including: - Preparation of financial statements, quarterly business activity statements, tax returns for large family groups comprising a mixture of trusts, companies, partnerships, and individuals. - Exposure to the public accounting internal performance-measuring system of client job budgets, write-ups, and billings. - Familiarity and proficiency with Xero accounting software as well as extracting relevant financial data from different accounting software packages. - Consolidation of supporting documentation to aid in the application of commercial loan applications. - Reconciliation and presentation of financial information for business information needs including consolidated assets and liabilities and analysis of funding.
As I grew familiar in my role, I took on new duties such as : - Independent liasing and communication with clients , auditors, and the ATO - Engagement with superannuation structure documents such as trust deeds and change of trustee situations - Being aware of evolving legislation such as Transfer Balance Cap Indexation , super contribution changes, and reduced pension withdrawal rates. - Restructuring SMSFs following wealth strategy work such as W&R (Withdrawal and recontribution), death within the family, and wind-up of SMSFs
As my first graduate role, I delved into the world of accounting for self-managed superannuation funds.
My main duties were maintaining and recording financial records, while ensuring accounts payable/receivable processing for four different wind farm entities were done in a prompt fashion. During the later periods of the role, other duties were gradually introduced such as performing various bank reconciliation, as well as contributing an increasingly crucial role in the preparation of financial reports and associated documentation for the annual audit process.
Based at the Kumon Gungahlin (the largest centre in Australia & New Zealand), I engaged approximately three hundred students a day through the Kumon Math and English syllabus.
As part of the pilot CBE Welcome Program assisting new students with their university transition, I mentored and guided ten new students. This role required me to have a comprehensive understanding of navigating university life to answer queries on matters such as timetabling or seeking academic help.
Run by ANU Student Experience, I support and assist the transition of new students into ANU. My duties include conducting campus and airport welcome tours, advising students on the support services available at the ANU, and working during the inaugural ANU Alumni Weekend.
