I studied finance. Then I went and built a fashion brand. Not because it made sense on paper. Because I saw a gap nobody was filling properly. Today I run Ori Ventures, a house of brands supplying women ethnic wear to retailers across India. Built from scratch, no industry background, no shortcuts. What I have learned building this is worth more than anything I studied. I share that here. The systems, the mistakes, the decisions behind the business. For founders who are building something real and want to think more clearly about how they do it.
- Grew the distribution from scratch to more than 2100 stores across 120 cities and 7 countries. - Worked with more than 20 wedding planners across India to build a new vertical for the company. - Successfully implemented data driven inventory management to achieve 97% sell-through rate in 2022-23 - Successfully identified gaps in the market and introduced new product lines to grow company revenues over a 100% YoY consistently.
Started as an e-commerce venture, we set out to sell t-shirts to millenials online. Soon, we pivoted to a B2B model where we catered to t-shirt printing requirements for colleges and corporates. Our unique printing process ensured there were no cracks in the prints faced in rubber based printing, which was a hit amidst our clients.
- Found and scaled the Entrepreneurship Development cell from a 5 Member to a 50 member team, disrupting beliefs and boundaries set for a student run body. - Played the lead role in designing and executing 10 competitions, all covering diverse attributes that an entrepreneur must master, out of which 9 were executed at a national level. A total of 74 rounds and 3000+ active participation right in the first year of inception is what led to the ever growing acceptability and popularity for EDC in India. - Undertook the responsibilities pertaining to graphic design in the society during the tenure, designing over 15 posters, and numerous social media posts and the logos of all the events undertaken by EDC. - Undertook PR activities in increasing EDC's credibility through getting investment groups & venture capitalists on board for our funding and mentorship programmes. - Conceptualised and designed the EDC website
