The Commissioner of External Affairs of the A.G.S.R Gyas full-time Board is responsible for all external relations. The tasks contain managing the LinkedIn and social media pages, maintaining relations with partners, realising new partners and being responsible for various committees. A.G.S.R. Gyas is, with its 1200+ members, the biggest student rowing association in the Netherlands.
The social media committee is supporting the commissioner of external affairs in managing the social media as well as creating content. As one of the largest student sports associations in the Netherlands, Gyas needs to be well represented and prominent on all social media platforms. Together with the commissioner of external affairs, I founded this committee in 2019. We saw that there was a lack of representation but a lot of potential. Today the account @gyasgroningen is representable and attractive for our external audience. After being chairman for the first year of the committee's existence I later became responsible for the committee as the commissioner of external affairs.
The introduction committee is responsible for attracting new members during the ‘KEI-week’ (The university introduction week in Groningen). Actively approaching young new students and inviting them to our boathouse. Continuously organizing a six week long introduction period where we encourage our new members to learn rowing and build a strong social environment. During my first year, I was responsible for the social media coverage. Making sure Gyas was well represented leading up to and during the KEI-week. As well as using social media as a tool to inform and communicate with our new members. In my second year, I was head of the six-week-long introduction period. Arraigning the logistics of all the teams with coaches and rowers, as well as organizing activities for the new members.
