A closely knit, established and stable team is the core to successful software engineering. The team is responsible for everything from accepting tasks to delivering well tested and peer reviewed code. Every member may have a special skill they add to the mix but every member is responsible for delivering quality code. Over the years I have refined my methodology to an art. I know how to build, groom and run a team and achieve excellent results. The interview process must be tough, even brutal. But at the same time take into account that hiring a brilliant coder may not be beneficial to the team if they aren't a cultural fit. And someone who may struggles writing code on a white board may be the team glue that makes everyone successful. The hardest part of my job is letting someone go and I take very seriously. But it is a necessity and something I will not hesitate to do for the betterment of the team. Agile methodologies have proven themselves effective to me time and time again. The team needs to fully drink the kool-aide and at the same time know that they have an impact on the process. No process is ever set in stone and will be different for different teams. The goal is always to deliver high quality software and that is what I strive to do every day.
