My name is Bjorn Westervelt, I graduated Spring of 2024 from the University of Vermont with a degree in mechanical engineering, where I was a member of the UVM Division I Ski Team. I am now a full time member of the US Biathlon National Team competing at the highest level of international sporting in the world. Outside of professional athletics, I strive to combine my experience in mechanical engineering with my passion for business and entrepreneurship. High performance sport has allowed me the opportunity to demonstrate and grow my leadership skills outside of a traditional setting. My experiences both in and out of the classroom highlighted a large interest in the fields of new product development, research and design, prototyping, and robotics.
Professional cross-country skier and member of the Green Racing Project (GRP) team based in Craftsbury, Vermont. Balances elite ski training and racing with the mission of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, which is to promote excellence in lifelong sports, to use and teach sustainable practices, and to protect and manage the surrounding land, lake and trails.
I compete in high-profile national and international races for the US Biathlon National Team. I have represented Team USA in Europe at the World Championship level five times in the past six years. In 2023, I won the FISU World University Games, the largest international collegiate sporting event in the world, becoming the first US Biathlete to ever win the FISU World University Games. Internship with Sterling Technologies Inc. in Morrisville, VT learning about and working on a wide range of CNC machining in their state-of-the-art machine shop. Worked through a broad-spectrum of services and aspects of the business including design consultation, production, part inspection, and supply chain management.
Worked as a fitness consultant and at the front desk of my local gym, PHIT Performance in Stowe, VT.
