Portland, Oregon, United States
Creative, organizational skill-set with a range of teaching, fundraising, community building, business management and writing experience. Spanish speaker. When I'm not working, I travel internationally, attend concerts, visit art museums, read, bike, create, eat at new restaurants and play board games. I am interested in making a difference in my work.
Three days of the week I'm a teacher librarian at Skyline IB K-8 school, enjoying a hilltop view of Beaverton, Hillsboro and the Coast Range. On the other side of the hill is Forest Park, Sauvie Island and St. John's. The other two days I'm in the Rosa Parks Elementary library, Rosa Parks being one of the most diverse schools in Portland. The school is located in the heart of the St. John's neighborbood of North Portland.
I am an elementary school librarian, basketball coach, book club host and Maker science class instructor. I set up an all-school Summer Reading Night near the end of the school year, featuring a free book for all attendees (and every student in the 500-pupil school), guest author Breena Bard, storytelling in various classrooms, prizes and dinner for all.
I have so far been a guest teacher at all grade levels, for both single day and long-term assignments.
