About

Like everyone else, I'm many things. I'm a proud husband and father. I'm an interventional/structural cardiologist. I'm also co-founder and CSO of Lylah, the personalized microbiome therapeutics company. What is Lylah? Combination of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics targeted at heart health and risk factors for heart disease. Who is Lylah for? All non-pregnant adults. Heart disease is the leading killer in the US and globally, and the risk factors affect nearly everyone. How can someone learn more? Message me or email me at [email protected]. Visit our partnership hub at https://lylahhealthpartners.Manus.space. Lylahhealth.com has blog posts and a chatbot trained on 79 academic papers. Ask it questions, or just reach out to me. My interest in the interplay between gut microbiome alterations/phenotypes and cardiovascular disease began with research in 2017 investigating gut microbial composition of patients undergoing a left heart catheterization, specifically the differences between patients with coronary artery disease and patients without coronary artery disease. What began as an interest turned into a lifelong passion, and alongside my sister and cofounder, Zoya Ahmed, the passion became Lylah. Lylah operates under a few guiding principles: 1) Factory Reset from the Western diet: Food is medicine, and our medicine is calorie-dense, full of sodium/salt, and an obstacle to cardiovascular disease prevention. There's no silver bullet, but there are ways to combat this obstacle beyond healthy eating and exercise. The gut microbiome is a prime target for reducing inflammation, the ultimate driver of metabolic syndrome, the cluster of risk factors that predispose to coronary artery disease. 2) No BS Ever: Therapeutics marketed as beneficial for the gut microbiome and metabolic health often rely on catchphrases and clever marketing. We let the science drive the product, and we believe firmly that a "no BS ever" approach is better for everyone. 3) Show Me the Data: Where there is data, we show it. Where there isn't, we show that too. Our goal is betterment of health through transparency, and our notebook of academic papers does the talking for us.

I am co-founder and CSO of Lylah. Along with Zoya Ahmed, I aim to further merge the insights from the nascent field of gut microbiome therapeutics as they relate to cardiovascular disease prevention with the driving power of industry. Specifically, I ensure Lylah's formulations align with the latest and most robust academic research and educate both consumers and the lay public regarding the latest advances and what they mean for microbiome modulation.
